I think it is time to get cracken and get Miss Agatha finished.

Today I received from Tony a few christmas items.

Spare tire tie down.
New mounts for my side curtins.
Tie downs for my top storage.
A jack set bag. I now have a jack, jack wrench, and a lug wrench.
All to be put under the Christmas tree I am told.

Time to start on the last, I hope, engine pull to replace the oil pump cover and the throw out bearing for a thicker one. Also have a few other bits such as the middle clamp for the heater duct hose and such.

Need to rebuild the oil pressure side of the guage, sticks a bit and work on the heater flaper pull cable.

Hope I have the energy to start on the engine pull in the morning. For some reason I am not looking forward to that. It will be the fourth time that lump has to come out, hopefully it is the last.

I FEEL for you Jack!

Back in the early 80's I had a Datsun Pick-Up daily-driver that I "fixed" by having the transmission rebuilt (synchros were shot).

Approx 1 week after doing a very neat & tidy installation (with all new clutch components, new U-joints, etc.) of the rebuilt trans, it starting leaking gear oil out of the front seal. :frown: SO, I pulled the trans out again, took it back to the shop who rebuilt it, and they installed a new front seal (I would have just done it myself, but there WAS a warranty to consider). "Must have been a defective seal" they said... I reinstalled the trans WITH another new clutch disc (1st one was oil soaked from the leak) and figured the problem was solved.....

Approx 1 week later (almost like clock-work!) it started leaking AGAIN from the front seal! I was NOT a Happy Camper! :wall: I pulled the trans out AGAIN, and took it back for a second time to the rebuild shop. They were about to just install another seal and hand it back to me when I insisted that they take a closer look into what was causing the recurring leak. Turned out that the input shaft had been burred slightly (during the rebuild) RIGHT AT the point where the seal contacted it. This burr was acting to slowly damage the seal, thus causing the recurring leak after approx 1 week of use. The rebuild shop installed a new input shaft & seal to resolve the issue.

Good News is that after reinstalling the trans for the 3rd time (with YET ANOTHER new clutch disc) I never had a leak again! Drove that little pick-up all over the western US & never had another complaint about the trans!

HOPEFULLY you'll have the same success with this engine pull & Miss Agatha can remain intact for many years & miles of use!! :driving:

"Cheers!"

Guess whos wife decided it was time to paint the utility room.

GOTTA keep the "boss" happy!

As they say, "Happy Wife = Happy Life!"

Your Mistress (Miss Agatha) will still be waiting for you once the utility room is completed...

It always costs, Jack....but, remember my prime directive: <span style="font-style: italic">"She can never say NO to you if you never say NO to her!"</span>

You got it Tony, just screws up my schedule, hehe.
