I've had a Samsung Captivate phone for little over a year now. Up until last Wednesday, the screen had remained scratch-free. It fell out of my pocket without me noticing when I was getting out of a truck. Then the truck backed up over the phone. A guy found it face down on the asphalt and handed it back to me. The screen was crushed but amazingly, the speaker worked when I turned the phone on and there were little lines across the screen that could still be seen under the shards of glass. I bought a new screen/digitizer and installed it this evening. Fired right up and works perfectly again. BTW, the truck that rolled over the phone wasn't some mini pick-up. It was a 5-ton truck(carrying cap., not actual weight), here's a stock photo.

Nice.

Have the same phone. Hate sending e mail with it.
Nice to know the screen is replaceable

I've got one too. Works great. I managed to get a very small scratch on the screen, probably from my keys - so I put a screen protector on it. Easy to put on, take off, they're cheap, etc. Wouldn't help with the truck situation but still...

@DNK: I hate touch-screens in general, but I switched my keyboard to Swiftkey and it's been a lot easier to use - well worth whatever they're charging for it, and I've seen it pop up on Amazon's app store for free once already.
