Jacked Miss Agatha up this morning to install the clutch slave cylinder. Guess what it does not fit.

It is too long, and will not clear the rear engine backing plate.

It is a Moss 180-655 7/8th bore and even looks like the one in the parts book.

There is just no way it can be bolted in as the end is too long to clear at the front, the backing plate end.

It is 2 15/16 inchs long main body metal. From where the rubber boot uncovers the body to the other end, large part of the body. Total length, overall 4 1/8 inchs.

This is a Lockheed, Delphi item made in Italy. Has an
A2 5 number cast in the side of it.

Going back out to garage to check some more.

Well maybe but sure would be nice if it was a 1/16 or an 1/8 inch shorter. Hate to have it against the back plate.
Hmm, I do have a grinder. Hehe.

If we find they sent us the wrong thing, we'll just get them to send another! Or, if there's a problem with it & its supposed to be the correct one, I'll give them a call...lemme know what you want me to do.

Just may get it in Tony. Let me give it a few more.

Got that sucker in, used feeler gage, .002 clearance. boy that's some fit. Remind me to do that when engine and tranny is out of car.

Thanks for letting me rant.

Do it out of the car and you will then have to curse the tight spot you will have to deal with to install the hose, Jack. No two ways, it is just a mother! Did you remember the trick of cutting the top mounting "ear"?

Yep remembered it, but was not necessary, everything is so clean that was not an issue. It just may never come out again.

I wasn't so much thinking about the cleanliness so much as the knuckle-busting to get a wrench on that top bolt and the limited turning radius for the wrench. It's a sweat inducer!!

Naaa, not a bigeee. Open end wrench works fine.

Mike,

I am beginning to think Jack is a direct descendant of Job. Nothing beats his patience. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I totally agree Morris!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif
