Now I know--# of boxes to ship a 1275!

Just so you know, it takes about 4 boxes to ship a 1275 including the head and carbs. Block is about 75lbs by itself -- dividing up the other bits kept the box weights reasonable. All were shipped via UPS, no issues.

So by sometime next week, Hap will have all my motor bits. Current timeframe is for completion by the end of the year. Tunebug's getting a new motor for Christmas!

And by then, you'll have the disc brakes on, and everything else will be ready, so it'll just be a plug & play operation, right? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

That's the plan, Jeff, though I've got a lot of work to do with the suspension, fuel system, and transmission. I'm rebuilding all the bits from the Midget, so it's mostly just bench disassembly right now. Then a few phone calls for rebuilding shocks, calipers, suspension, and I'll be good to go.

Must admit, getting rid of all the engine bits does make for a bit more shelf room in the garage!

Drew, turnaround right now from World Wide Auto on shocks is FAST. I called in my order...UPS dropped it off three days later, used the boxes the new stuff came in to rebox the cores (per World Wide's instructions) and shipped them back the following day. Total turnaround < 1 week...not that I'm in a hurry.

That's good to know -- I'm not in a hurry either, but do need to get going. Does PeterC do brake calipers as well?

I took my calipers to my local bigbox autoparts store that is a cardone dealer. They sent them off for me and I was returned rebuilt calipers. I think the total cost was less than $70. I was going to rebuild them myself, but I'm in a situation where I have more spare cash than spare time.

Thanks, Trevor. I'll have to check with the local folks...
