Hi guys,
just joined up, I have a '54 Healey, with a 327 Chevy that I have just finished restoring, see members photos. I know some may not "approve" of the combo, but belive me it is great and looks VERY "trad"! My 1st car was a '49 TC, I have had a Full race Sprite, TR6, '72 Pantera and have raced SCCA for over 10 years with an Elden FF and 2 Tiga Sports 2000's, so you can see I am a real glutton for punishment!!

Looks like a fun group, hope I can contibute and learn.

Hi Howard,

Welcome to the forum! That's a great looking Healey you have there. A few Q's if you don't mind:

[*]Where did you get those rear bumperettes, or are they something you made up yourself? They look very good. [*]Same for the front bumperettes; off the shelf items, or custom-made? [*]And those wire wheels look special; what are they (make, model, size)? [/list]

Thanks, and once again, welcome! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Welcome to the forum! By the way, where in NM are you? Just so happens I'm in Edgewood.

Hi,

I am just outside Ruidoso in Nogal, up at 7500 feet, need to re-jet, she gets loaded up pretty easily! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Hi, Thanks.

They were on the car when I bought it about a year and half ago in Seattle. They are bugeye sprite bumpers and I belive one of the Healey supplers, Cape or one of those guys in the UK sells a kit for the retrofit. The rears especially compliment the curves of the body, I think. The wheels are Dayton 72 spoke. They increase the trak somewhat and so the tires stick out a little, I am not crazy about that, but I did'nt want to flair the fenders.

Welcome Tiga2,
I have 72 spoke Dayton’s also. Most of the fender flair jobs I’ve seen don’t do anything for me. I did a subtle flair tapered over 4”. Most people don’t even notice them. I think your car is too nice to put to the torch. Maybe someday if you have a (God forbid) fender bender… But I think it looks sharp the way it is. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Thanks Greg,

Well It was just stripped down & painted, so that would have been the time, but I think you are right. What is with all the Star War references? just wondering. As a matter of fact I made the sails for Jabbas Barge in my past life as a sailmaker in the SF Bay area. Also the company I still work for in the Bay Area, we did quite a few fiber glass sets for S.W....lots of fun! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

The references change with the amount of posts you make. I bet the programmer was one of those guys who saw Star Wars over three hundred times. There are a couple of movie people here on the forum that I know of. The closet movie to SW I worked on was Alien Resurrection. I’m surprised I even remember that. Just to clarify about my fenders. They flair out about 1 ½”, but it’s gradual over 4”s.
