The application instructions indiccate that using a heat gun or hair dryer is not required but they don't really confirm how pliable it is.
"Heating B-Quiet Extreme (with a heat gun or hair-dryer) before applying is not required as is the case with many other deadeners. As long as it is applied at or above room temperature, it will form a very strong bond.
Peel the paper backing off, and slowly lay the material down inch by inch. Take your time and slowly push the material into the contours of the panels."

Anyway...the advantage of using this product around engines, and exhaust pipes is when it heats up it gives off a VERY, VERY calming vapor or smoke. Sometimes you don't even have to be going any where. Just sit in the car with the engine running, and all your cares (and maybe some brain cells) just melt away. Safety notealways open the garage door first).
Mine never did until I put the top up. Another good reason to leave it down. I think I know what is loose and I'll fix it when a have a few minutes to play with it.
