Looks like one heck of a good start. Still a question or so, see below.

Bugeye Bolts

10/32 Box SS, Box plated, ¾ “ pan head, Phillips drive

¼X28 Box SS, Box plated, bolts both 3/4 and 1 inch lengths.

5/16X24 Grade 5, 1 inch long bolts

3/8X24 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 long, grade 5, plated bolts

Washers and nuts, for all bolts. Some lock washers as well.

Three questions:

1. Assume plated is Chrome/cad. plated? Why not use all SS?

2. Pan heads all thread, how about others? Will all thread work OK?

3. 3/8X24 box of each SS? Or can I use either length mostly?

Jolly, I had a thought to replace all the non suspension non stressed bolts with Stainless Steel. Would make it look so much nicer under the bonnet.

The bolts that could be seen anyway as 'Jacob" is preaty well striped and who knows where the bolts are and goodness knows I don't remember what bolt goes where anyway although I do have quite a few still around in a bolt keeper from years ago when I striped a rusted out hulk for parts and had them cad plated for spares. Guess I was thinking way ahead even 30 years ago. Don't get me wrong I do know where lots of them go, hehe. Sure took them off and on enough.

Seems to be lots and lots of info around for lots of types of cars but have not found a difinitive source for what bolts of what sizes.

Link was added, just might have this under control. Took this on my work bench this morning, think it is mostly two bugeyes fastners. Wow, lots I know, lots of strange stuff, guess it will all sort out.

Did they publish a Mechanical Service Parts List and a Body Service Parts List for your car(s)? I have one for the Austin Healey 3000 (series BJ7 and BJ8) and it has detailed exploded view of the parts and fasteners with part numbers, description and quantities. The fastener part numbers are a code such as CMZ0310 which stands for Flat Head Countersunk Screw, Zinc 3/16" dia., 5/8" length. I would be lost on my restoration without this book because even if I kept great disassembly notes, the P.O.'s changed things around over the years. Also, I know you like SS but I am using the CopyCad/Zinc plating kit from Caswell to replate original fasteners and other zinc plated parts. There is a thread about this in the Tools forum but here is sample photo:

I will check on Mechanical Service Parts List and a Body Service Parts List for the Bugeye.

What size kit did you have to get. Your results look outstanding.

I bought the 1.5 gallon kit and the 3amp rectifier (power supply). Check the Caswell thread in the tools section as I go into details of my current procedure after much trial and error. If you do decide to order anything from Caswell, use the links found here at BCF and Basil gets a percentage of the sale! Hope you find a Mechanical Service Parts list .. I think they are being sold as reprints/photocopies these days but the info is invaluable.

Yep found a Mechanical Service Parts list but looks like it will have to come from the UK. Oh well, just something else to look forward too.

Think the first one may be just for engines?
 
No. The Workshop Manual has step by step instructions on refurbishing and replacing mechanical items and is great to have for obvious reasons but the Parts Lists show the exploded views (like the Moss catalog but more of them and more detail) and the all important parts codes.

I hope some other Bugeye owners will chime in on a good source and exact titles for you.

Thanks John, I did get a Haynes manual, but am disapointed in the quality of the printing and the poor paper used.
 
Does anyone have the Midget CD with the manuals and other publications? I was contemplating buying one, but I can not find a list of the exact publications it includes.
