Only a buck, RWD MINI, too.
Under "Make", he calls is a "Mini".
The 1100's were FWD, designed by the same guy who designed the Mini, but...

So, is it an 1100 or a Mini, and how did he get RWD out of it?

Rear wheel drive's easy - just put the engine/box/drive shafts in the back of the car as one unit, like the back half of a twini.

The same was done with a prototype mid engined midget (still exists AFAIR) and a mid engined Spitfire proto that used Triumph 1300 engine and drive.

Sadly neither made it into production of we'd have had a X19 equivalent years before Fiat got round to it!

Except the Lotus isn't transverse-engined.
I used to Autocross in England against a guy who put a Cooper S engine / transmission in the back of a special. If he'd ever got his spring rates right it would have been tremendous, like the late Alan Stanisforth's Terrapin hillclimb car. Thankfully for me he didn't, but bounced around uncontrollably until he gave it up!

I didn't realise there was an A series powered Europa

It must have been a bit slow!

In-line, yes. Amidships, tho, too.

That tale brought a minds-eye image of a kid on a pogo stick. Once saw a Renault "Leeker" go all akimbo like that after front-end work. Hilarious, actually.

I que'd off the Fiat reference.

The S1/S2 Renault Europa wasn't exactly a scorching performer, but I s'pose an A-series powered one would be even less exciting. :jester:
