Not Knockin' Spridget Guys, but...

There's always that list, isn't there. I took Tunebug off the road to fix the radiator in April of 07, and now I've got a Hap building me an engine, and a disc brake swap and new fuel system all in the works.

BTW -- Bugeye radiator is much simpler to remove without all that bodywork.
 
The double row chain conversion is easy, Tony. The only thing you have to do is countersink the two lower holes in the front plate for flat head screws, so the crank gear clears.
Although, for a normally driven street engine, it probably isn't necessary.

I'm hoping to make the Missouri gathering, finances and time permitting. Tunebug should be done by then, one way or another.

I have a 1968 Sprite..and I had the same thinking....until I had to do any work on my 1966 BJ8!!!

Okay, Tony, all HS2's are 1 1/4", as HS4's are 1 1/2", HS6's are 1 3/4", etc.

I am in pure joy when it comes to working on the bugeye...the "hole" you gotta get into to work on the BJ8 is a real pain...let alone scratching or dinging the fenders!

I have enjoyed the simplicity of the bugeye...
 
Is HS2 I think and is 1 1/4, was for MK 1 midget and such with 1098 engines. They are built the same as the H1 with the brass and spring for the seat. The 1098 needed a bit more air than the 948. A lovely upgrade for a warmed over 948 Bugeye.
 
Something Tony has not said is that his little engine has a 1275 exhaust manifold and tail pipe on it. No clamp bolts and a gasket where it makes the connection.

So, it may have even been warmed over some as well some where along the line.
 
Jack, I think the 10CC engine had the slightly larger manifold & a different exhaust pipe as part of its 'charm'....
 
Yes it did and I have one on Miss Agatha but that ain't it. It had a clamp connection to the exhaust pipe as orginal.
 
I went out back & got one of my "flange type" 1275 exhaust manifolds - not what's on the '63....then I looked in the Moss catalog - while they don't show the different manifolds (because the 1275 "flange type" isn't available new, they do show the different exhaust pipes....mine has pipe #9 in the diagram below...the exhaust pipe attaches to the manifold with a clamp, the same as does on the 948 manifold

948's had only a clamp type manifold (I think), 1098 & 1275's both had a clamp type manifold (larger than the 948); and the 1275 also had a 'flange' type.

I've also got a used aftermarket 3-into-1 header for Midget engines on my shelf...hmmmmm
