Not for the squeamish

ugh!

"Not responsible for any bits of the former driver you may find in car."

Durn shame, hope the guy that hit it got his.

Wow, that's terrible. Wonder if the driver survived. Looks like he caught it BAD.

What a nice looking car to come to such a sad end. :frown:

Where's Paul Harvey? We want "The Rest Of The Story..."

Here's what happened to my last toy. I know the rest of that story. Other than being really sore all over for several weeks (which really surprised me, people told me I'd feel it for a month I didn't believe them), I went back to work an hour later and was a hurt'n puppy for weeks, nothing permanent though, thank the good Lord (and upgraded seat belts).

Jeff,

You might have already said this somewhere, but what did you hit, or what hit you? Really glad you were OK, but it's a real shame about that beautiful Opel.

I don't know if I cried about it here or not. I was cruising down a 5 laner (2 each way, middle turn lane) As I went through a green light (with two cars behind me a bit) a lady waiting in the center lane to turn left suddenly did, so, although I tried to brake, I'm not sure I ever did, I T-boned her at about 50mph.
Amazing how that car folded up. Notice how the hood folded? There's these big hooks that come down from the underside of the hood. I asked once what they where for and the Opel boys told me so the hood won't cut your head off in a head-on. They were right, it folded! And the pedals are all twisted, my feet and the other ends getting shoved at them. The speaker on the kick panel folded up, those things are hard to fold, my shin will vouch for that! Steering wheel buckled up, probably was designed to. It is a collapsing column but I don't think it did, maybe wasn't that hard a hit.
I doubt I'd fair so well if in the Midget, but it's a different car and 7 years older.
I should have bought it back from the insurance company, could easily have made money parting it out, but time and space said NO. I did like that car, such as it was. It was far from killer but a great driver.

I had a friend in Virginia with a mk3 sprite that ended up looking very much like that. It was at his apartment and t-boned while parked. In that case the only fatality was the car.
