NOS SU's on ebay - look a bit different to me...

I see this pair of NOS 1 3/4" SU's - thinking it would be a lot easier than rebuilding my old SU's for my MGC. These look a bit different though, with the bottoms of them being the biggest departure from what I'm used to. The price seems right, as long as nobody else gets very interested anyway.

Anybody have more info on these?
SU carbs on ebay

Internal float chambers. "Newer."

I'd say stick with yours, watch for a pair of HS6's from an old Volvo. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Ah - yes, now I see.
Thanks DrE.

No thanks necessary...

It's m' job, y'see. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Heck, I'd keep my eye on 'em and see how high they go....wait, forget I said that. Forget all about 'em.

Well Rick, just a bit of different opinion. These carbs that we refer to as "Flat Bottoms" are far superior to their HS6 cousins and very much sought after by the Volvo P1800 crowd.---Fwiw-Keoke

Yep - & thanks for letting me know about them...I'm the high bidder right now....I've got just the car for them and it ain't a Volvo!

Those are quad 44's on that Boxer crossflow intake!

man... when you get that car done it'll be insane!

It's insane now! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

I still see difficulties mounting 'em to an MGC. Linkages, lines, etc. It's not just "Plug-n-Play". The Turtleback crowd NEEDS 'em. Or Tony.

Aw Tony, don't you think those would go well on my Midget with the Nissan A15? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif <evil grin>

Rick - if you want them, I'll back out or let you have them for the high bid...I'm just interested in them as spares.

Just giving you a hard time Tony, I hope you win.

I'm sooooo not ready to make any big changes at this time...

I might bolt on a weber downdraft if it doesn't cause me too much trouble, but thats probably as far as I'm ready to go.

Thanks for the offer, you're a classy guy!

Re: NOS SU's on ebay - look a bit different to me.

Are those really called "NOS" SU's?

For a second there I thought they had Nitrous Oxide inputs! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Here's a different view of the Boxer crossflow intake manifold & quad-44 carb setup on my engine:

OH sure glad you told me you are bidding Tony, because I was gonna spring a number on em. I have some cores and full rebuild kits. I need them like I need a hole in my head. I am converting a FI P1800 back to carbs for a friend of mine his computer failed and I only have one of those as my own backup.----Keoke

If you need them, let me know - I'll not bid any higher & if I get them, you can have them for whatever the auction is...I'm also just getting them for spares.

The ones on my intake were built for & run by by the European champion in his class on a TR8.....they'll go for some time on a street car!

You could make a career out of tuning those things, but that's gonna be one sweet sound. The sound barrier, that is. Zoom-boom! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

that looks awesome!

Is that a 215 V8?

No Tony I do not need them and tell Rick they are as easy to tune as HD8's and when tuned you would think you have NOS in the system.---Keoke-- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

NOS also means 'New, Old Stock'. Which you are much more likely to see in reference here than 'Nitrous Oxide Systems'. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
