The WIX folks inform me that NOS air filters that have been on the shelf for more than 5-7 years begin to deteriorate. Has anyone had practical experience with that phenomenon?

I do have some paper filters that are close to 50 years old and show no visible evidence of deterioration but I wouldn't want to put them on the carbs. I guess I'd go with the Wix recommendation. However, I have no hesitation in putting the original black ones on and they are older than that.

Thanks, Tom.. Appreciate that. These NOS items I have may be 40-50 years old as well....
