Well maybe. I have to admit that I laughed at this (and shouldn't have). What a mess.

Not much to see after the first minute.

I had to laugh myself. i'm right there with ya

Hah. At least it didn't hit another car or a house.

As a former police officer, it is almost mandatory for me to make some disparaging comment about firefighters in general (rather like the army vs the navy, there is always a lot of banter back and forth, no matter the nationalities) but I shall resist in this instance. I let the video do that for me :excitement:

Not knowing the brake system or drive train on that car and as it was at rest when the fire co got there, who would think it would take off on it's own. As hot as that fire was, there's no telling what broke or burnt through to cause it to roll. The guys were doing their job trying to get the fire out on a vehicle that was a total loss and credit should be given for that. It is fortunate that the guard rails stopped it before it caused any damage to personal property or injury to others. Firemen put their lives on the line every day and a lot of them are just volunteers, no pay. JMHO. PJ

Maybe it's a modern day Viking Trojan horse invasion tactic

I wonder if it was out of park and the force from the hose made it move. I can't see melting a steel parking pawl. Does MB use a rubber coupler on the driveshaft like BMW and Volvo?

"I wonder if it was out of park and the force from the hose made it move."
I thought the same thing Billy.

Or maybe something burned such that the brakes failed (hydraulic lines)?
More likely somebody got out in a panic and just forgot to secure the vehicle.
