TR2/3/3A Normal TR3 Oil Pressure?

After sitting for many months, the TR3 is back on the road, but I'm concerned...

The oil pressure is reading what I fear is abnormal @ 70-80 whether I'm accelerating or cruising at 2000 rpm's. It drops to about 55 at idle. I recently inherited the TR3 from my father, and don't remember the pressure reading that high in the past.

I just changed the oil and filter, and put Castrol 20w-50 back in it.

Is this pressure range normal? What is?

Thanks in advance!

That sounds much like mine. I think it is a sign of a healthy engine and your bypass valve is doing its job, too.

Thanks for helping me out with this question. It's apparent that I need to find a service manual as I know a number of these questions will be cropping up over time.

I'm just glad the oil pressure in the normal range.

Now, for that leaking rear main seal....
