TR6 Non Adjustable Stromberg Pistons

Working on my 69 TR6 restoration and rebuilding the carbs. Doesn't look like there are dash pot seals in them? These are the non adjustable needles. When I pull the needle out it looks solid in the keeper. Tried to use a drift punch and right away I could tell nothing was moving.

I did an upgrade on the adjustability of the needles and purchased 2 of the adjusting kits from Moss. $$$. Hopefully it will be worth it. It will be a year or 2 before I get to try them.

The adjustable jet works fine...I tried them out on my carbs because I was getting request to install them for other people. I I had to have confidence in them first.
I like them and still have them in my carbs....If you have a heat shield, at least an ARE heat shield you'll need to make access holes in the floor of the heat shield.

I haven't purchased a heat shields yet for any of my TRs. Gas seems worse this year and the TR250 I have has had a harder time restarting and idling then ever before, so been thinking of getting one for it. Also I was thinking with that big long brass jet so close to the exhaust manifold if it would pick up more heat and transfer it to the fuel bowl.

So poolboy how sensitive is it to tune? I measured the top of the original jet to the bottom of the carb body and got .065. That's where I set my new jet so I had a "reliable" starting point.

I used 1/10" below the bridge as the baseline starting point, same as the fixed jet in the carbs with the adjustable needles.

The adjustable jet works fine...I tried them out on my carbs...

Before the ready-made adjustable jets were available I used a pair of jets from a TR4 to make my E-type carbs adjustable. Like the kit... it is pretty much 'press out' and 'press in'.

Jets are purchased and in. My question is that it looks like there are no dash pot seals to replace in the early non adjustable carbs. When I look at the hole where the needle came out of it looks like a blind hole. I tried taking a punch and taping out the retaining clip but it felt solid as a rock and nothing moved.

No need for a seal for the oil;
As you discovered there are 2 blind holes...one for the damper well and one for the fixed needle carrier.

FWIW, if it were a carb with adjustable needles, this is where the O-ring seal would be...around the needle adjustment screw.

My TR250 has 3 adjustable carbs on it with Richard Goods intake manifold. Did the seals a couple of years ago. Thanks and as I suspected.
