What's the fix for a noisy TR3 lifter? Valve lash is correctly set and the sound is different from lash sound. Stethoscope indicates the last exterior tube.

I know you said the lash is correct, but if the tip of the rocker arm is worn, it can make setting accurately with a standard feeler gauge impossible. Just a thought.

Darrell,
Good thought, but I have been running Cambridge roller rockers for some time and am quite sure the clearances are set according to my cam specs. This sound is different than the normal valve train sound. Sounds like only one tappet.

So, the lash is the same, but it sounds different than the others. Something is badly worn or broken (which I suspect you knew).

I'd start by looking at the roller rocker setup, since it's easiest to get to, and the roller bearings do sometimes "go away".
