Season started for frogeye done a couple of runs this week to check all ok for a few events this year, noticed on a couple of occasions the facet type fuel pump makes a noisy tapping sound but it does not effect performance at all. Appears to start being noisy after about five mile run. Should I be concerned or is it just a characteristic feature of this type of pump? I have seen a few past posts on these pumps but cannot weigh up if they are reliable or not.

I have the Facet in my car and YES it does make a "clicking" noise every so often.
It's annoying but the clicking does stop in short order. That's the norm for the pump... motor on!

Thanks for the reply I won't let it worry me then just turn the radio up - forgot no radio have to sing

When I first installed mine the noise concerned me but I soon learned that it was just the way these pumps are.
You may want to print the warning sticker and place it in your car for passengers... just saying

The Facet pumps seem to be noisiest when they are not full of fuel. Today's gasoline forms vapor bubbles very easily, and I suspect you're just getting one in the pump. It goes away after it works the bubble through the pump.

I had a Facet in my Bugeye and have one now in my Porsche. I've had te same experience as you, in both cars.

Isolate it from the car.
i used two pieces of short fuel, line with washer on ether end
run bolts thru the pump mounting holes the washer fuel, line washer car body.
quites it down to near silent

May have just found one reason for my fuel pump being extra noisy went for a 30 mile ride today and ran out of fuel quarter of a mile from home! Fuel gauge reading nearly half full I'm sure the petrol fairy has drunk some of my fuel šŸ˜€
