I'll be ****ed. I just rocked the passenger seat and it sure sounds like the noise I have been hearing. Any suggestions on how to keep the passenger seat from jumping up and down(the base of the seat)?

Well, you could get someone to ride with you. :highly_amused:

Do you mean the removable cushion or is the whole base moving? The cushion should be a tightish fit in the base and to some degree held in place by the squab.

Of course you could always try driving on smoother roads :highly_amused:

Typically the rear seat pan on a BT7 was held down by 4 screws that penetrated the vinyl and pan and screwed into the body panel. The screws and cup washers were visible from inside the car. 2 screws on the top back edge of the pan and 2 more on the front leading edge. I have seen several BT7 where the screws were not visible from inside the car and I assume they had been modified by either welding bolts on the underside of the pan and then securing them with nuts under the car or maybe just used velcro in some manner to keep them in place.
I don't really like the exposed screws but when I last did my interior, I kept it the way it was made. It is convenient to be able to remove the seat pans occasionally in order to check and refill the rear axle. I suppose you could do that task without removing the pan, especially if you had a lift.

BTW, I see you live in Modesto and your tag is chickentender. Are you connected with Foster Farms by chance? I worked for them for 25 years.

Well Bob, I thought maybe that was you. Glad to see your are driving that beauty. Maybe the noises you here underneath the car is just one of your other cars you jam in your garage.....Hope you're glad you bought the Healey. Another one of life's goals realized. Stop by and see us if you ever get to the central coast. Rob

Hello Rob, the chickentender is the name of my boat. Love the Healey and if it wasnt me watching you occassionally drive yours to work, i probably wouldnt have bought one. Retiring at the of March.

I finally got off my rear and took the real wheels off. The noise turned out to be a loose bolt on the driver side shock. This is what several of you thought it was. Thank you
