My bike is loud in a couple ways. First, it's <span style="font-size: 14pt">YELLOW</span>. Second, I reworked the baffles and packing in the mufflers for that deep V-twin sound. It does get loud when I hammer it though.

Thanks for the warning Doc. I like to think I have situational awareness. I bought my first bike in '85 and I'm on my 9th one now. So far, I've only had a bike go out from under me twice. Both times hitting oil in a parking structure during a turn. That coating they put on the concrete keeps the oil right on the surface. One of those times, I didn't even fall. It was weird, one moment I'm riding, the next I'm standing and the bike ain't underneath me no more.
 
I think the turn signal thing is one of the many other skills that they no longer teach in driving school. I beleive that many of the things we learned have been replaced by such vital skills as make-up application, cell phone talking, sub-catagory cell phone dialing, and for the more advanced students, cell phone texting. Also offered are fast food eating, newspaper and other literature reading, and sometimes even shaving with an electric razor. :devilgrin:

or seperating ones eyelashes at 80mph behind the wheel of a Chevy Suburban, in Michigan. Have you seen the roads in Michigan? They are not the smoothest. After I saw that, I took the next exit and stayed off the Interstate stretches for a while.

I think that they are an option that many driver's around here chose to leave off and opted for the DVD player instead.
 
That is one of my standard comments when i see it happen. Used to work as an inspection mechanic and knew better but its better than swearing in front of the kids.
 
Drove in from Fayetteville last weekend after dark...I-40 from NW Arkansas to Central Arkansas...Its amazing what you see people doing in their cars on the interstate at 70+mph....besides talking on the cell phone (counted, it average to 4 out of every 10 vehicles)
For those driver's NOT on the cell phone:
1. Watching a DVD (6) (no kids in the car)
2. Reading a book with the map light (1)
3. watching a DVD on their laptop (2)
4. Playing solitaire on their laptop (1)
5. Working a crossword on the laptop (1)

I know this is probably not a huge percent of the driver's and admittedly it was after 10 pm. but really.
And my son cannot understand why I want him to drive to and from before it gets dark.
 
I suspect you could tell what was happening because there wasn't much daylight and their screens lit the insides of the car up....

While the "be home before dark advice" isn't bad, I suspect these idiots aren't any more clever before the sun goes down, you're just not so readily able to see them.... :wall:
