No Turn Signal on One Side

I have no turn signal working on my front left side, but the side marker on that side is blinking very fast. I thought that usually meant that a bulb is out.

All bulbs work, and the bulb on my front left side tests good when I pull it and connect directly to a current.

It wouldn't seem to be a flasher unit problem because that side marker light is blinking fast (too fast)and getting current.

Is it more likely a loose or disconnected wire, or bad ground? Other ideas?

As usual, thanks well in advance.

I agree with Andrew.
Check connections and grounds.

Is my turn signal working?

Yes! No! Yes! No!...

I too would check the grounds. When you say "All bulbs work" I assume that includes the rear bulbs. What is the left rear turn signal bulb doing when the LF is blinking fast?

My left rear tailight blinker works fine, and at the correct speed, while that front left sidemarker goes fast. Front left blinker is dead.

Sounds like it has to be a bad ground or loose wire.

I believe that would cause the other bulb to flash fast (not enough load on circuit). Could be a ground, or a bad bulb, or a corroded contact or a loose wire, or a loose bullet connector, etc. Whatever it is, it is for that front bulb that is not owrking. Time to start tracing with the multimeter. I would start at the socket and work back.

That is seriously weird! There is only one flasher for both front & rear, and it can only run one speed at a time.

Assuming the LR taillight actually flashes at the same rate as the side marker, my next step would be to carefully probe the LF socket with the blinkers running. If you dont' find any power, there is a wire disconnected.

I was wrong; the left rear was also flickering fast, just like the LF sidemarker.

I think I've found the problem. The ground wire on the LF blinker, the one that wasn't working at all, was loose and seriously corroded.

I'm cutting, soldering, heat shrinking in the morning.

Now I do wish I had that bullet crimper.

thx
