No Spark

I put a post out earlier titled coil voltage, now I have a question about not having spark. In the process of cleaning and checking out my distributor, I noticed the small orange wire that goes from the plate and then is screwed into the distribitor was broken, would this be the cause of the no spark condition? Thanks Mack

Quite likely. '76 B, which dizzy is it? Are we talking points? The advance plate has a braided copper wire from it to a phillips screw in one of the cut-outs for the cap locator. It's the ground for the points stage, necessary for circuit completion. There could be ~some~ grounding thru the bottom plate, but it would be "iffy" without the braided wire.

And that PDF should be required "bathroom reading" for any and all who own an LBC! Printing a copy for insertion in the shop manual couldn't hurt either...

...also for people owning most other cars with a ~real~ distributor, for that matter. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

Wow Doug...that is awsome. Have you submitted that for the knowledge base?

Doug, what a great post! This is reading for everyone. I'm going to copy this article and put it with my shop manuals. You should put this out front in a new post and bring it to everyone's attention. PJ Two thumbs up!/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
