I had the front wheels off today getting new rubber installed and everything balanced. I noticed that I don't have any shocks.

I'm missing that nifty bottom piece and the hanger piece for one side. I have the other side. The bottom piece is NLA. Anyone got one for the TR3A?

I don't see any shocks listed for the rear, and I didn't see any installed. Are there any on a TR3A?
 
The rears have lever shocks attached to the frame with connectors to the springs for damping. Check the Moss Motors site in their catalogue for a picture.

#36 in Jeff's (Moss') exploded view, Rob. They look different from the shocks you are used to seeing; probably why you missed them.

Maybe you should post a photo of your front suspension
before you go trying to take anything apart. The front
shocks should be inside the large, black coil springs.

You could hurt yourself real badly if you suddenly unload
the compression of a coil spring by taking off the wrong
pieces.

Here is a photo that shows the shock inside the coil spring.

I don't have any shocks inside my coil springs. I have the pieces (#131, #90, #89) for one side, but not the other. I have no shocks up front.

I totally wasn't expecting to see lever shocks on the rear... That's why I missed them.
 
I have a set of good working Monroes that came off my 3A when I converted to Koni's. Yours free for shipping, just PM me. Don't have the other bits though.

What "bottom" piece are you missing that is no
longer sold? Parts 88, 89, and 90 are sold by many
vendors.

You can purchase a bottom coil spring plate used and Rimmer
also lists it as still available.

A photo of your existing front suspension would be of great
help to understand your existing conditions.

I kinda doubt it, John. I've been over there myself and dug through just about everything. It's all mixed in with other parts from things like jeeps and tractors.

Are doing an inventory just now? or
Actually working on the front suspension? If you
are working on the front suspension, you need to
install a safety device inside the coil spring.

Are you planning on installing the missing shocks only?
Or rebuild the entire front suspension. A full rebuild looks like it is justified.

I'm not doing a full restoration. Everything I've done so far has been to get the car running. It'll run without shocks, but I hesitate to drive it without them.

My plan is just to replace the shocks (and missing hardware) with new and get it back into working order.

I've done a few basic tests. There's no play in the ball joints or tie rod ends, so I'm comfortable with those.

I'll check into those links.
