No more Saab

Uncle Satch. He had Lotus cars too.

i'm on my third in a row and they have all been great cars that are a hoot to drive.
this pi$$es me off to no end as they really were an under-rated and woefully under-promoted brand.
well done GM :frown:

Ummm....Charlie......I always wondered why any type of car is so "great" if it's the third one...or 15th one.....

I am driving the same 1950 Ford Tudor Sedan I bought in Oakland, California in January of 1970 (that's 39 years, 11 months and a week or so).

Had the 1950 F-1 pickup for over 20, and the 49 Willys Wagon since.....1975?

opinion i suppose, but i have never had any troubles, they were good in snow, went fast, were good on fuel, very comfortable, and had cutting edge safety.
i guess i am as dissapointed as i am because GM sank more money into their other mostly garbage products and pilfered SAAB for their ideas and as a parent company they still need gov't money to keep them from going t!ts up. way to go!

They were quite popular when I was a kid in Vermont. The front-wheel drive 900 seemed to do well in the snow, and they seemed to last a long time in what was a very hostile environment for cars. I always had a favorable impression. Didn't care for the GM era, I must admit.

Sad. I'm sorry to see them go. Not sure that GM is entirely to blame but they (GM) sure didn't help much.

Here's two shots I like - I've posted them in the past. From the Pacific northwest but Satch-free content, btw.

I'd love to have an 850 Monte Carlo!
The V4 was a Ford engine (first used in the Corsair).
They used a Sonnet to test the engine in.
Satch Carlson now writes for Hemming's -
Sports & Exotic Car magazine.

All of the above. I really liked that Ford V-4. Have gone thru a few of 'em.

None of this is important as long as the CEO gets a bonus.

One thing about them old sobbs.....you could hear them coming......

Nobody ever seemed to grasp the idea behind valve adjustment.....
