The last couple of times I installed the plunger and anti-rattle spring I thought that I had done it correctly only to find the rattle still there. Upon removal to see why ,I found that the plunger was gone and a portion of the spring was squashed outside the hole. I suspect that when I am pushing the gear lever into place it pops out the plunger. Does anyone know of a good method to compress the spring and plunger to get them started so they'll stay put untill the lever is all the way down? The Moss spring is much stiffer than the original and not much room to manouver the fingers or screwdriver in there. Karl (I did install the 5/8x7/8 rubber sleeve as was suggested in a previous post but I suspect it's only effective along with spring and plunger.)

I packed the bitch with grease and had no issues. Just do it quickly and be sure to get the sequence correct when you put back on the cap that holds the shifter down.
