Well, with the additional info above, I would not hesitate to refuse doing business with them/him along with expressing my disatisfaction. Nor would I hesitate in relaying my experience to others! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif

There is a pump for the outdrive on a boat that works great. Also on the 1500 trani there are two spots that look like filler holes, make sure you don't take the wrong plug out.

On the 1500, there are two square head plugs, one on the bottom, and one on passenger side near the bell housing. There is a hex head bolt just aft of the filler plug that holds part of the reverse mechanism in place. I filled mine before installing, but I did spill a little out the back during install. Luckily, I anticipated this and overfilled just a tad. The worst part of the job was washing the gear oil out of my hair: took 4 tries!
I would pull that bottom plug (over a pan) just to make extra sure there's nothing in there. Also, considering the trouble you had with the shop, I would check everything over real well before you install. Put it in all gears and spin it in each gear. Pull the cover on the the top and make sure there are no rags or loose bits in the case.

Besides suggestions in this thread........
firstthing I would do is get free catalogs from these two companies......
Moss Motors 800-667-7872
Victoria British 800-255-0088
They both have exploded view format and are very helpful (the catalogs ,not the employees) in spotting parts/pieces/assembly/etc.
IF , then, you feel so inclined to further your knowledge base....get a Factory Workshop Manual reprint from Moss or VB or a Haynes manual for the 1500 Midget from any of a number of sources who handle Haynes books.
A Haynes manual is a lot cheaper and will get you going along with the free catalogs.
use Hypoid gear lube 85-90W GL4 in the trans. Fill in the car after you install and with the driveshaft connected so the lube doesnt run out the back of the trans.
