No fun here

Just fitted an Airtex E8016S to my BE and liked it so much that I ordered another for a Midget. Unlike the Facet it is quiet!! $38 from Rock Auto. BTW the Walpro looks an awful lot like the old Auto Pulse and they were famous for ruptured bellows which did the pumping. Worked fine till they failed then they dumped gas by the gallon on the ground or where ever. I had a Bendix that is now owned by Facet( google the Facet that looks like a can with a dome on top and removable strainer on the bottom)that has been in use for over 40 years on my MGB. A friend now owns the car and it is still going strong having pumped for over a 100K. Facet claims in there lit that it is the most reliable electric pump on the market and I would have to agree if it is still made to the same standard as Bendix did.

My experience and my .02

Yup. Even if the things are reputed to be "better" now, I'd not trust 'em.

We had an SU pump fail on Alligator Alley, late at night when it was still a two-lane goatpath. Had to beat the bulkhead with a rock every 30 seconds to get to Miami. Literally threw a Facet on it in the in-law's front yard. That little pump is STILL on the B, decades later and works just fine.

Alligator Alley at night with a bad fuel pump! Sounds like a interesting motoring experience, Doc. If you have a flashlight I believe that you can see there eyes as they are coming for you!
Anyway the Facet pump that looks like my 100K Bendix is a Purolator/Facet 60SV. I believe if a person was to fit this pump you would never have to worry about pump troubles again.

I recently installed this type of Facet that has been recommended in the past... (40163 - 12V Neg. Ground, 2.5-1.5 PSI Max, 17 GPH, 1/8 x 27 internal pipe ports)

https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/facetpumps.php

I actually decided to read the instructions & noticed that the pump has to be installed with the inlet facing down, which is counter active to how the fuel lines are routed on our cars, no biggy just a bit more of a loop with the lines, used a Ford 1/8" thread in filter... so far so good, but if I hadn't read instructions I would have put it in with inlet facing up... obviously this must cause problems, probably something to do with keeping the inlet as low as possible in relation to the tank?

Have them order the cater P4070. No reg needed, made in the USA and is a well made pump. It'll cost you ~$100 but is well worth it. O'Reilly's has the 2-3 PSI cheap pump but it's $40 wasted.

I'm on my 2nd Carter P4070. First one failed and started pumping out wayyyy too much pressure (No regulator installed). Keep in mind that this pump will pump continuosly, no tick tick tick until pressure builds and then silence. It's louder than the originals were, I can here it over my baffle-less harley muffler.

Jack,

The pump at O'Reilly's that matches your price has pressure that is higher than the three pounds I am looking for. How do you deal with that?

They have two pumps, even look alike one low and one high pressure. Mine is about 3 lbs or a bit less. (Airtix E80165)

Jack, do you mean 8016S rather than 80165? I just ordered an 8016S from Amazon for $33.97.

Yes "S" I'll blame it on old eyes.

When I was your age, Jack, I wore reading glasses.

Shoot, I can't see even with glasses.
