Sadly, much fish is passed off as another species. Saw a special years ago where even fish biologists couldn't tell what type of fish they were looking at under a microscope. Knew that most sea scallops were punched out of stingray wings. Sheepshead passed off as crab meat. And on....

and Tilapia passed off as food....
 
Dude, you can have as much Tilapia as you want !!!! Eat my share for me will ya?
 
jpsmit, sharks kill and eat skate and stingray, because such a great number of large sharks have been killed something like 80+ % of what were around just ten years ago,there are few other species that would otherwise contol the population of the skate and stingray and both skate and stingrays are "diggers" they can push thier heads deep into the sand and mud etc. with those large powerful wings, you guessed it!, thats where the real scallops live or at least used to.
