We ate some baked Wild Caught Alaskan Sockeye Salmon for dinner last night. What a treat! No artificial color, no genetic alteration, fresh frozen, from Alaska, no fishy smell or taste, and on sale yet! And healthy, too.

tr6bill, ive had it before and love it, recently my brother in law attended the dr.oz. show here in n.y. since dr. oz. worked on his ticker, the doc. gave each audiance member a 3 month supply of wild caught alaskan salmom flash frozen and vacumm sealed, needles to say i "snagged" a bunch of it and it is fabulous delish!

Lovely stuff indeed. Only thing wrong is the price. At least here in the flatlands.

No everybody likes Salmon. Apparently Lewis and Clark got fed up with it and decided to go home early

My opinion on "best" is 1) Coho/Silver, then Sockeye, then King/Chinook. Not that I would really know, but some of the species are twice as old as others when they return to the rivers, or so I heard. Could be why a 35lb Chinook has a stronger flavor, again don't really know.

Not a king fan either.
Love an 8 lb silver!
Specially on light tackle

STOPIT!!!

...I'm slobberin' now.

It doesn't taste fishy? That's one thing I hate about salmon. The only thing I hate more is that durn prison fish. (~NO~, I haven't been to prison. Bill knows what I'm talking about.)

Now Wahoo on the other hand...

I spent my life (until 3 years ago) in Alaska cathing 'em for free...we love it !

Hmmm free fish, vs 9 months of winter, bad trade.

What other kind of Salmon is there?
there are "farm" raised fish and crustations now a days lobster, shrimp, salmon, clams, etc. although there good they just dont compare in taste with the wild stuff. :nonono:

kellysguy, you can check out, create-lobster-farms.html as everyone here knows by now i grew up in sheepshead bay bklyn. thus the discerning pallet when it comes to consuming fish products, still alot of people dont realise that those large jumo sized scallopes there buying are really cuts of halibut, skate and stingray wings, real scallops are nut pure white in color like these cuts but rather an off white to slightly yellowish and much smaller. :savewave:

Bagels and LOX :jester:

Yum. Cream cheese, smoked salmon, purple onion slice, tomato on a fresh everything bagel. New York style.

Water Street; Worcester, MA in the 50's thru the 70's. My mouth is watering. Now I'm not happy - craving and no way to satisfy it. Well, I could go the local deli if I can find one. Any hints Boss?

"... pure white in color like these cuts but rather an off white to slightly yellowish and much smaller." Used to go scalloping with my best friend right off of Gold Street in Stonington, CT. The dory style boat was called Onlius. I do miss the great seafood that was so much a part of my childhood. We just took it all for granted.
