no driving for 6 weeks

going in for knee replacement this morning and they tell me no driving for 6 weeks , what am i going to do? ah well I guess I can still work on them ----Jack? Mini nees a lot, midget not so much.
 
That sucks! Sorry to hear that man. Take care of yourself and don't do anything that'll make your knee worse.
 
The way I look at it is the pain I will have won't last as long as the pain I have had for the last 5 years and it can be controlled by medication. Then the clutch knee in 6-8 mths from now hopefully
 
I know a woman here who had BOTH done at once! I thought that was a bit whacko, but <shrugs>.
 
My surgeon won't do both at the same time and that suits me as I need at least 1/2 a good leg to stand on lol
 
Darn I hate hospitals, was in this am and ready to have the IV inserted and go into the OR and they come in and tell me the surgeon had to cancel so now I am due in on the 26th June at 8.30am. Perhaps it was meant to be
 
Sorry to hear about the minor setback. After all of this is done with, the pain and all of the problems this has caused will turn into a distant memory and you'll be back on track. Hang in there.
 
My mother-in-law had a knee replacement two years ago and had it not been for that she would have been using a walker at best or worse, a wheelchair. As hubby and I attended her, we discovered that the most important part of the rehab is phsical therapy thereafter. She was up and doing the day after the surgery and after 4 weeks was back into her normal routine. Oh yes, she was 84 at the time of her surgery. I and my husband were amazed at the outcome.

Good Luck and know that you will most likely be better than you ever could have imagined. A bionic knee is a miracle indeed!
 
You will be fine with the clutch in about 4 weeks, however getting that new knee bent to get in the vehicle is another matter entirely.

Do every bit of the therapy, get a bicycle and use it a lot. I now have 100% mobility in that knee but it took some work over about a 6 month period.

-- weewillie, thats soooooo wrong man!, haven gotten that close i would have insisted they knock me out with somthin till the doc got back from his vacation or what ever /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif - i had my knee worked on in 1987 but it needs something done again im not looking forward to it. yah like the others say do the rehab. good luck.
