T-Series No brakes or clutch - fix it strategy

The big rubber plug is to allow access to the bolts and fittings attaching the cylinders to the pedal box frame. A good "trick" is to "Heli-Coil" the cylinder thru-holes while they're out. Next time it will not require the "gymnastics" it usually takes.

To treat the cleaned up area (down to bare metal, rust removed) use POR-15 or another "rust converter" first, then paint the area .
 
Right, I'm there. I have both cylinders dismounted, and I have the rebuild kits from Moss for both.

First off, I think the clutch cylinder is OK ... when I press the plunger in and out, there is a lot of springy resistance and I get little squirts of fluid out of the pipe hole. There don't appear to be any leaks at all. But I suppose I should use the kit and replace the rubber parts.

I removed the double chamber reservoir from the brake master cylinder. There are two thick rubber gaskets/O-rings that seal the chambers to the body. There are four small holes in the body underneath the chambers: two at the rear and two at the front. I don't see any obstructions. My impression is that the front circuit is the leaky part since that half of the reservoir had a very low level when I got the GT.

The two large nuts on the side of the cylinder that have the threaded holes for the pipe attachments are extremely tight: I can't budge them.

Please excuse my rambling: I am using this thread partly as a form of documentation until I find time to make a Web page out of it, and also of course in the hope of useful hints and encouragement from you folks :smile:
