No brake lights!

Title says it all, my bugeye has no brake lights! I've replaced the "switch" thats on the brake hydraulics to no avail. Wiring diagrams are no help as the wiring on this car is a disaster. It's got 40 years of roadside fixes and additions subtractions etc. I WILL be rewiring the whole car but id like to have brake lights before that. Would like to hear yalls thoughts to see if I'm missing anything!

Thank you!!

quirky little boogers aren't they!

Most likely ground. IIRC they are grounded on the metal light base itself - never a good ground to begin with. You should be able to add a ground wire - even with alligator clips and check.

Assuming you have a continuity tester, I would also (and maybe even first) check the fuses followed by confirming that the switch actually works. They are simple cars so it shouldn't take long.

good luck! and keep us posted
