Nitch in Brake Master?

My brake master is starting to leak at the cap... so I figured I would replace it rather then rebuild... so a quick order from Moss and the next day it arrives...

But it has a nitch out of the metal in the part that sits inside the servo. It's a rounded V shaped.

I havnt pulled my old brake master yet to compare, but is this nitch supposed to be there?

If I am making no sense, let me know, and I will shoot a picture of it.

Thanks!!
Aldwyn

yes its supposed to be there and i have no idea why. i believe it sits on the top right hand side while mounted in the car? dont remember but yes thats the way it should be.

Aloha Aldwyn,

I'm sure a TR6 guy will give you an answer soon. If you don't get a definitive answer here, go back to Moss and ask them. They should be able to compare a few pieces on the shelves to see if the match the one you received.

I just had three of them side by side for comparison. All the MCs where from different eras, the last being a new Lucas unit instead of Girling. All three of them have the notch you describe though I do not know their purpose.
