Very nicely done! A couple of rough-looking spots on the underside, and the wire wheels, though nice, are not as original! (Just being hyper-picky!!

I was looking at that one. Nicely done and tastefully modified. Would be a pleasure to drive, I'm sure.

I'm also a big fan of the Sprite blue color -- one of the nicest of the original colors I think.
 
I would likely have gone with Superlites rather than wire wheels if not the original painted steel wheels. I like wire wheels on Midgets, later Sprites and MGBs but for some reason I just done like them on a Bugeye.

I would want to inspect the car first hand and spend some time behind the wheel before remotely paying their asking price. Regardless of the amount invested, that's a lot to expect for an ebay purchase. Barrett Jackson may be a better route for this car.
 
Love that blue also - but he almost certainly won't make money since the teamsprite car only made about 23k and it had a story
 
I'm not really a wire wheel fan either... too much maintenance. I rather like the stock steelies. Don't think he'll be able to get what he's asking for it, no matter what he spent on the restoration -- the real curse of restoring cars at the low end of the spectrum.

If it all checks out, though, someone will have a nice Bugeye!
 
I too like that color! Well, it seems like most of us are in agreement as far as wires on a BE!!! :cheers:
 
If I get the time may buzz over to Venice and check this out, although the price is nuts. Whoever spent 42K maybe a little too. I know I'm going against the grain here but this blue is my least favorite color but to each his own!

Perhaps most but definitely not all. I, for one, am a huge fan of wire wheels on a Bugeye and have never had an issue with being in the minority.

We have a maroon one with wires and it looks a heck of alot better then the blue with them.
 
Mike, I have no quarrel with that!! It is stunning!! Just a personal bias, not general! I wouldn't turn down your car because it had wires!! :wink: :devilgrin: :thumbsup:
 
Nice car, Mike! I'm certainly not against wires on a Bugeye, just won't do them on my car (personal preference).

Yes, wire wheels (or colors, transmissions, etc.) is indeed a personal preference issue. In the interest of clarity, I most certainly did not take your commentary as an affront. Part of the appeal, to me, of these cars is their inherent uniqueness which can only be enhanced given the inclinations of the owner.

Hi Drew,
Alas, far too many of us have experienced that plight; some more so than others. At one point in time my Bugeye was sitting in a garage on Cape Cod whereas I was spending the bulk of my time in Silicon Valley. Rather difficult to coordinate weekend drives, if you know what I mean.

Being on the wrong side of the country from your Bugeye is certainly not an ideal situation!

I'm committed to having mine on the road next spring. Time to get driving.
