Nice weather, no Sprite!

In preparation for a rear brake job, I removed the brake components on my Sprite and began cleaning up the re-useable stuff in the parts washer. Since the rear bearings and seals are cheap, I went ahead and pulled the rear axles and hubs, also.

VB has rear brake kits on special, so I ordered the complete kit. Come to find out, they're back-ordered for 5 weeks. I try British Parts Northwest and they're back-ordered, too!

So my car is out of commission during the only decent (less than 95F) weather that we've had in weeks.

I have no real point here other than to make a general complaint. Why would you put a parts kit on special without an adequate supply on hand?

Oh well, hot weather is returning this week (100F predicted), so it won't be so painful to stay inside in the A/C after dinner, rather than burning petrol in the Sprite.

The lesson is not to take things apart till you have the replacements in your hand. I almost learned a similar lesson earlier this spring I wanted to change the fluid in the (datsun) tranny---BUT instead of draining, then filling, I tried to loosen the FILL plug as step one. I could not budge it and wound up having to DRIVE it to a place with a lift so that they could use a 3' cheater and put all their weight into it, rather than my 14" long wrench.

Plan for the Worst-----Hope for the Best.

Good advice. I had been lulled into a false sense of security by the five previous parts orders which had arrived, complete, in less than a week.

When the container gets in from China, all the parts will be readily available.......
