I know we love to hate courier companies, but, had a great experience today.
We were on vacation last week at a timeshare in Newport - and I left some clothes behind. The next day I got an email from the timeshare and a company called Ileftmystuff.com which would ship it back for me. Fine, pay my dues and off it goes.
This morning I got a call from UPS asking about the shipment and especially if I had bought the clothes new? I said no, I had forgotten tham - and she said that I would have to pay the duty (or I could go to customs - at the airport - close by) to fill in the appropriate forms to get the duty waived.
I explained that the website had instructed me on valuing the contents and that I had done as instructed. She asked me to email her with a new valuation and declaration and she would speak to her boss. 45 minutes later I get an email and all is well for delivery tomorrow - no duty involved.
Oh and while we were talking someone was singing in the background - all in all a remarkably 'above and beyond the call of duty' experience.
