This one is 15 minutes from me, so if anyone here is serious let me know. Of course, going to see this one would pretty much send me into a deep funk over how crappy mine is....

Oh, she'll get there over a loooong period of time.

I bet mine would run away and hide in a race, however. <grin>

If you look at the car, check out the seats very carefully! :smirk:

I had to laugh looking at the steering wheel. I purchased a new 1980 TR7 L.E. that had the same steering wheel, and the center logo kept falling out in spite of my efforts to keep it glued in. I see this one was permanently lost, as others I have seen for sale.

I am looking for a steering wheel like this one, with the logo inside, for my TR7. If anyone knows where to locate one, please let me know. I haven't been able to find one after searching a few months. I've checked VBL, TRF, and Moss, too.

Dan -

I'm not sure that all Wedges' caps had the logo originally, and I've seen two different ones - the wreath and the "open book".

My TR8 had a plain one, but I was given some leftovers from another car that included a center cap with the blue "open book" logo.

Maybe not, but I do remember when I picked up my car that the center piece was in a bag with some adhesive on the back of it. I think they gave it to me that way because I didn't want the luggage rack put on, so I got all of the accessories in a bag!

I was able to purchase a new OEM front air darn, and now looking for the Bosch fog lights with covers. I thought I had won a bid on eBay, but was sniped at the last minute. Dang. Anyway, I want the steering wheel as I am trying to make it look like a limited edition model from that year.

Found the answer to the steering wheel question - according to <span style="font-style: italic"> Original TR8 </span>

"...1980-1981 model year Federal cars had an altogether neater wheel, which was smaller but not identical to the TR8. ...a circular black plastic centre, bearing the TR wreath motif at its center.

"The TR8 had a "Moto-lita" wheel... and a circular central boss having at its centre a small recessed circle. Mostly this centre was left plain black, but it appears that on some cars a small TR motif was present."

Guess the TR7's had the badge, but most 8's did not.

Mine does now, though I still have the plain cap for originality. Not that it matters that much to me!

Now we can all sleep better tonight, knowing this critical factoid! :jester:

One just sold on the British site but ended at an inconvienent time and I missed them. Sold for 50 bucks.
I want to get a set for running lights.

Yeah, the ones I wanted to buy off the U.S. site were NOS, still in the original box with the embossed covers. Now when I want something, I am always sure to bid what I am willing to pay rather than bid what the price is at. I just haven't been smart about bidding in the past. A set will come up again at some point I am sure, and it looks like I will have a least one person to bid against...

No, I didn't see that. The $16,500 seems about right to me considering the shape its in. Larry, I see now that your Wedge is a TR8... sorry for calling it a seven. It looks almost exactly the same as my '80 seven except for the badge and extra tailpipe.

Would a "sprint" engine in a seven be faster than the eight?

Based on the reviews in Classics Monthly and other British car mags I don't think so. The Rover V8 offers a lot more tuning potential as well, but then again I might be biased...

I do think the Sprint engine loved to rev and was a different sort of experience than the TR8.
