Goes tos show you how stupid I am. I always thought couche couche was a Turkish or Arabic dish. Maybe cause of my Lebanese roots on mom's side. Sure sounds like it. Didn't the ferrin guy on Seinfled who got deported serve couche couche ???

All of which reminds me of the hockey tournament a friend attended as a teenager. One of the english speaking males fell head over heals with one of the french speaking girls. He wanted to make a good impression so asked another player for advice. his reply, "look deep into her eyes and say Couche-moi."

Couscous is indeed Arabic, mainly Algerian but eaten all over. So you are Lebanese on your mamma's side, eh. I am 100% pure Syrian, first generation (Lebanon used to be part of Syria until 1948). So is my wife. I do most of the cooking in the family, especially the Arabic food. Now that is a whole different thread if you want to ever go there. Yummy. Made some kibbee last week, baked a sinnea but had to have a big bowl of kibbee nyi (raw). Use only fresh lamb.
 
My GM didn't make allot of old region stuff, but she could stuff a cabage like you wouldn't believe. I didn't see Syrian before in the old pic, but now that you say it I can see it. I thought you had the same French region look of eveyone lese 'round here (there.) The eyes and hair are similar, 'specially wit dat doo you had back den. My wife says I look a bit Lebanese, I don't think so. My mom and GM ~definatly~ do.
 
GM's folks from Beirut and her and folks were ~ANYTHING~ but the hot headed stereotype. NIcest wowan you could ever meet. I'll have to tell you the story of one of the last times I saw here but it's a bit difficult.
