Nice fall drive in the BN1 last week

Took a final fall cruise in the wonderful fall colors in my '54 BN1. Seems the fall colors were more vibrant and beautiful than I can remember in recent years. Every time I drive this car, I am amazed at how perfectly original it is after 60 years, and how solid and "refined" it feels to drive since it has never been restored or disassembled in any way. The pictures just don't do the soft patina justice.

Nice looking car, how have you managed to keep it in such pristine condition for the last 60 years?

Must be a magnet for all those people who are trying to find out what an original BN1 should have.

Bob- I just purchased the car in May from its original owner. He kept it covered in the garage, only drove it on nice days, and only drove it 25K miles. Thankfully, he and his sons continued to drive it just enough to keep everything lubricated and functional. It is truly a time capsule and aside from a couple of dents and some 60 year old lacquer patina it is nearly showroom new.
 
Very nice. Makes me miss living in New Hampshire. Nothing beats great fall colors and brisk weather. Too bad about what comes after fall.
 
To each his own, but I would pay a lot more for a car like britlover's than one that had been torn apart and refinished, no matter how high the standard. I just love the look and feel of a well preserved original. Fall is a great time for zipping around, makes me miss my 100, it was a really nice car for touring, the 3 speed and big torque four just made it such a relaxed, comfortable car to drive, while the body has those perfect classic 50s sportscar looks.

Thanks for sharing. I took a similiar drive here in the PNW just before I winterized my BJ8. I haven't driven my '65 that often in the past couple years, as vintage racing has filled my octone addition. It was such a pleasure to motoring in a 50 year old car (build sheet 10/64) with the wind in in face and my wonderful wife by my side.
