Out of my price range, but it does look nice in the copious photo shots:

Surrey TR4

Its in my neck of the woods, too - I may need to wander over and see if the dealer allows casual inspection.

Positive ground?

Fuel line ought to be changed.

Tape on the fuse box?

Why no suspension pics?

More engine pics would be nice.

No hard top piece to the surrey.

No descriptive text or testimonial.

But it sure looks nice.

Good Morn`n Folks,

I`m not really a big fan of Surrey Top models but this one looks pretty nice.

I`ve always wondered; Is the rear window ass`y. totally removable & could it be replaced, without major work, with a std. rag top?

I know; Sounds Insane. I would`nt do it! Just go out & buy a std. TR4. I`m just curious.

Russ,
Yes, the rear window assembly can be unbolted and you are ready to go with top bows, etc. Then you can sell the hardtop assembly for several thousand dollars. On this red car they don't show the aluminum center section. If that is missing that is significant detractor. Otherwise, the car looks very decent, doesn't it?

Its definitely not a frame off restoration kind of car, but it almost looks like it is original unrestored, or at least an old restoration with some patina (like the tape holding the fuse cover). Positive ground is correct for the car though. Looks like at one time it did have the hard top, because I think those parts in the glove box include the hard top attachment hardware - front spacers for sure.

I don't want to start a debate on value, I like it more for the look and the seller was generous with the photo shots. I agree, some more engine and frame shots would be great too.

The grill makes me feel like my left eye is lazy. If anyone goes to look at it, bring your wrenches and help him lift the passenger side of the grill and tighten it down.

Looks more as if the hood is slightly misaligned to me. Other than that and the few very minor things already pointed out (oh, and the replacement coil...and Michelin Xs that probably are 45 years old and good only for show), it's almost a visual judging guide. And I really like the red on red!

Since a decent TR4 needing paint sells for less that a decent surrey top (just the top!) needing paint... yes, I would agree that is insane.

As for the car...

That differential can't be right -- shouldn't it be covered in caked oil & grease?

Seriously, not much to not like about this one.

Nice of them to provide the ignition key number in the photos in case someone wants to take it for a test drive after hours.

It appears to be a really nice TR4. For 30k, what it lacks to me is the "wow" factor that fine fine TRs display.

With TR4s I think the eyebrows need to rap tightly around the headlights and even on both sides...if they don't the TR4 grill is exposed to much, leaving a haphazard look...in this case one eye is opened much more then the other.

Big fan of the TR4-TR250/5 series TRs, and all Triumphs in general.
