General TR Nice Deal on Seat Belts

I bought these a couple of months ago for the TR250 and installed them today. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-set-Blac...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d3c3af212 I had to drill holes in the wheel wells for the retractors (with some big washers on the back for reinforcement, but other than that everything fit in the existing holes, and the bolt sizes supplied are the same as on the car.

The stalk and retractable mechanism make them much more convenient to use, and it stays over my shoulder now, the old fixed three point belts I had always slipped off. Anyway a very good deal compared to what the LBC suppliers sell, but seems to be well made, looks pretty similar to a stock TR6 set-up I think, anyway, very pleased with the solution, thought it might be of use to others.

In the photo, the bolts are metric threads (see the 8.8) so you'll need to replace those or retap your car's threads.

The bolt heads read "8.8" but also "7/16" both on the picture, and the ones I received, the definitely fit right in to the existing captive nuts, not loose, not tight, a good snug fit I could finger tighten down snug and finish off with a wrench. No financial interest in this by the way, but have seen a few discussion of seatbelts for these cars, so thought I would throw this out there as an option. You mileage may differ, have a friend with a TR6 who hated the retractable belts installed and went with fixed, manually adjustable, on my car I disliked the manually adjustable belts so badly I seldom wore them, I had to fish out both ends of the belts from under the seats and tonneau all the time, and the shoulder belt came off my shoulder all the time, these work great, very happy and feel a little safer driving the car (ha! still toast if I don't avoid the dreaded distracted SUV driver).

No, don't work mounted horizontally, I thought that was how they went and couldn't get the belt to come out at all until I figured out I needed to mount it vertically.

I am very interested. Any chance we could get some pictures? Was your drilling/bolting through-and through on the wheel well? Seems likely, as described, but to drill and tap threads is not what I'd like to have to do. I suppose I could if I had to, but not something I feel real comfortable with.

This is the only place I had to drill a hole, all the way through the wheel well. I just mounted it with appropriate sized nuts and lock washers, and the biggest washers on the exterior side I could find at the hardware store. The upper mount on the top of the wheel well is the new hardware in the existing hole.

I had to twist and bend this piece by hand to get it to stand up like this, existing hole, I used a longer bolt than supplied, to hard to get the shorter one started through my carpet (the gunk you see is the result of replacing the seat covers, but deciding the old foams were "good enough" live and learn)

'cept for my time. Lately, finally, Northern California is getting some rain.

I will say I saw the darned-est looking bolt head on the top of the wheel well, It was dark and couldn't tell much, but still,
bolt head looked more shaped like a baseball home plate, or something. Weird.

I don't know about the TR6, but on the TR250 the stock bolt on the top of the wheel well is a chrome finished, large size (maybe 11/16th"?) and has a plastic surround so that you have to use a socket and not a wrench on it.
