Nice 100 fastback coupe

See the attached pics of a nicely done 100 fastback coupe that parked next to my 100 at a car show in VA today.

The owner told me he purchased it very recently at the Amelia Island concourse. I didn't get too many details but he said the work was done back in the day by whoever it was that did the Cobra coupes. The windshield appeared to be out of a BJ Healey and the rear window was, I believe, out of some Sunbeam.

All too often English saloons and fastbacks wind up looking top-heavy to my eye, as witness the AC coupes and some other 100's. This was a first class job in terms of both workmanship and design.

Not a fan at all . Its way to bulbous in the rear end , and the semi french rear lights look like one of those old north American cars that some one chopped and lowered . In fact the whole look of the car has an"Amercanised hot rod" look to it . Totally ruined it .

much better but they should have kept the wing flashes and door chrome caps etc . They did keep the wing/body division lines with wing beading which is good but the license plate looks like a MK2 jag . Other than that yes nailed it .

Thanks, Rick, for digging out that info.

As to opinions we all know the old saying and I know lots of folks who feel that hardtops on Healeys are anathema, though obviously I feel differently.

Pictures not withstanding, I can tell you the car looks a lot better in three dimensions than two. Yes, the frenched tail lights are a bit dramatic but they did not offend me and lent a snazzy look without going all the way to Kalifornia Kustom, plus they allowed the rear deck to be as wide as possible and smoothly transition into the rear fenders.

I don't know how the show turned out as it was very warm and we left early but, were I not entered I probably would have voted for my neighbor!

We've seen this one before. I thought it was a little rough when I looked it over in 2013.

To my eyes, Donald's coupe and the one shown by Dougie have the most pleasing shape. Their lines blend well with the original design. And the rear side windows that open likely provide much needed ventilation in a very hot car, although the car would look better without a window there. That said, I will stick with the drop top version.
