There's a relationship between the use of turn signals and the level of the vehicle operator's self-importance, IMHO:

"It's ME! I know where I'm going!"

The rest of us are expected to be mind-readers.
 
Or properly deferential to those who turn with no signal or don't with a signal. After all, aren't most of us just the peons who make their lives more difficult??...
 
I drive a Dodge... No need for turn signals, my car tells people know to "dodge" out of my way!
