was at an upholstery store with my wife this week and picked up two - 18" square X 1" thick pieces of foam. I was contemplating adding them to the seat bottoms on the theory that 30 years of bums will have taken their toll. How hard would this be? Any reason not to?
 
Why not, make it firm and like new.
 
same theory worked fine when I put new upholstry on my old truck seat - helps rejuvinate a little
 
If your cover isn't too brittle you can remove the clips that secure the cover and slip it off. Just becareful as the clips will sometimes tear the cover.
 
While you are at it replace the rubber bladdr under there that the foam sits on. Makes a marevelous improvement.

While I can't comment on how better it makes the seat feel, I firmly agree as the webbing on the seats in mine snapped last year due to my fat arse. Not comfy to ride on; I'll be fixing that soon. Replace it while you have it apart.
 
While you are waiting to replace the webbing stuff a peice of foam under the seat.
 
I don't think I have EVER been comfortable in an LBC!! Just do the best you can and ENJOY!!! :wink:
 
I used some super soft couch cushion foam that I had been saving for just that purpose. Cut it in half down the middle with a bread knife and then it was the correct thickness to add about 1 1/2" to the seat foam. I also added n electric inflatable lumbar to the seat while I was in there.
 
Oh for the straps I used some cheap hold down straps from harbor freight and cut them up in the right lengths and sewed them.
