Wife talked me into selling my utility trailer (it really was getting a little unsightly and in need of clean up, in the way, etc)-- But soon as I did, needed to haul stuff, for me and relatives, plus I'm gettin ready to take my TR and associated parts for painting, etc, Sooo traded my lovely 2001.5 V6, 5 sp. Passat for.... cough, cough... a Ford Focus wagon! Found a nice '05 Focus SES with only 6K miles and was able to trade in my Passat for almost no difference in price. Actually like driving it and tons of room in the cargo area! (Also like the improved gas mileage and regular fuel since prices have rocketed!).

One thing I've always liked about the Focus is the decent handling dynamics, even with the base model sedans and wagons. They are perfectly nice cars to drive, and better than many.

I love my '99 Passat V6. However, Mine's old enough to need a few repairs, and parts prices are outrageous. In the long run, you probably dodged a bullet.

Have a Focus coupe, and the thing is a real hoot on mountain roads. Nothing bad to say about it (so long as I keep my eyes closed).

No, the Focus is alright.....however, a real geezer car would have been a Buick or the "new Buick", which would be either the Toyota Avalon or Camry.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Absolutly.. After My TR7 being my daily driver last summer, When she went away, it was back to driving my 2000 Buick Century.
Took me a month to realize I wasnt' 60 years old. Still, though, I love my Buick for the 140 km daily trips to work and back.

Yeah-- but they didn't have a wagon version. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Actually I did a considerable amount of research and testing before I settled on the Focus wagon-- tried the volvo 40 but short wheelbase yielded choppy ride and too pricey. Tried to find a Passat wagon at for a reasonable trade but couldn't find the reasonable part. Tried to force myself into a small SUV but couldn't-- This offered the best value, fun driving, economy, utility and with the fanciest trim level, not a bad daily driver. Consumer Reports put them at the top in this year's car comparison (until they did the side impact tests).
