Just bought Kurt Tanner's decrepit 56 BN2 #1239. (Photos coming but you can see it on his site). I live 10 miles from Carlisle so finding trades will be easy. If you looked at that new Caton repro, you have seen my desired interior. Outside will be existing Healey Blue with English white side panels. Running gear will be gone through without getting stupid. Completely stock. Just scored a super-rare good steering wheel and beautiful horn/turn sig. unit.
In 1968 I bought a nice 56 BN2 M in Pacific Grove and drove it for years before dismantling for restoration. Life got complicated and I sold it 1974 in a basket. But the new guy finished it and took Class at Del Monte Lodge a couple years later. All the intervening years I lusted after a similar car.
I have had a few military vehicles (even a Ferret AFV). Presently a lovely 56 Renault 1-Tonne military truck. Also had an unfinished Mk VII, a rough 3500 GT, and a 308GT4. Not to mention the real Huey, which I built from scrap parts (t/n 62-4567).
Spotted this car on the computer the other day. No way it can be a bad deal.
I'm 82 but this project Does Not scare me. My brother (same town) has a near-concours red 65 Duetto. We will campaign them together.
