I am a new member to this board and would like to say hello. I am renovating a 74 B convertible and look forward to help (and sympathy) from fellow LBC addicts.

Welcome Jack. '74 is a good year. Is it a chrome bumper or rubber bumper? Is it on the road?

John,

It is a chrome bumper car built in 12/73 so it just "missed" the Sabrina bumpers that were added after 1/1/74. It was on the road when I bought it last summer, now perched on jackstands in my garage while I replace the doglegs and lower front fenders. Luckily, I was able to patch the outer rockers. The inner membrane, castle rail and sills are all solid. I caught it at a good time.

I have been following your project on The MGB Experience. Keep us posted!

Jack

Good for you! Nip that rust in the bud. Yeah, I've had my fare share of drama lately!

You'll get there. And when you're done, you will know exactly what you have.

Welcome Jack.
Nice car...Watched the slide show on your web page...kind "B" rated though...LOL...really tho..nice car.

Welcome Jack Good luck with your project. Regards John.

Welcome, Jack! Sounds like you have a fine example of the CBB in your possesion...same year and month as mine, but you are doing the right thing with your rust problem. I am just trying to preserve mine for the time being, but would like to get her lower body parts redone someday. The MGB that is, but then again...HMMMMMMMMM /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Hope to hear more from you as you enjoy the LBC experience /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Bruce,

I am not too far away in northern MD and used to live in Mechanicsburg. Maybe we'll see each other at some of the local shows. MGs of Baltimore runs a great show at Rocks State Park near Bel Air every September - come on down!

What is your VIN number? It'd be interesting to see how far apart our cars are since they were both built 12/73.

Jack

Small world, Jack...I am from the West Shore too...Lemoyne actually. I am aware of the show at the Rocks and may see you there sometime...or perhaps The British Invasion at Gettysburg, which is a nice small show at the outlet mall there in the summer. My car is originally from NJ (gotta love them Jersey girls /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) and is a late 3371xx number, which puts her in early December, according to the experts.

They're pretty close, mine is 336861 so just a bit earlier. Mine was sold new in Abingdon, MD (how's that for a coincidence) and according to all the records she came with has never lived more than 25 or 30 miles away from Baltimore.

Jack

Welcome. I too am a newbie, and I also have a early 74 B. I'm currently in the rust replacement phase. This car had 3 wheels in the boneyard. Lots of replacement parts from British Heritage.

Hugh
