Hi, I'm Gavin Roworth, a Brit living in Calgary, Alberta. I'm a British Classic car mechanic by trade specialising in MGB's and TR6's. Thought you guys who haven't seen it on 'other' forums may be interested in the project I've been building for myself. It's an RV8 replica using a mainly glassfibre body and a chassis of my own design. Engine is Ford 5.0 with 5 speed tranny. All up weight of car is around 1750lbs. Not quite finished yet as I still have to paint it and finish off alot of detail work, then try and register the beast! Anyway, some pics here

Hope you enjoy them.

Cheers

Wow! Hugely impressive!
I'm not sure I've ever seen a tube-chassis MGB/RV8 before.
Nice coil-over rear suspension and lots of other neat details.
Did you use an MGB for the body molds (for the fiberglass)?

Plenty of other Canadians here, some in your neighborhood (I'm a former Canada-resident)...anyway, welcome!

Hey Adam

I got a set of new TR6 15" Minilites from Len Drake in Kelowna at a really good price. I think these'll look really good with a dark color?

How many forums are you on anyway!!!?

I though the TR6 wheels had the wrong offsets? But I'm usually on this and the other on that you are on, then there is my local club, and occasionally I browse the other MG forums that I can find, and I almost forgot the NAMGBR classifieds. Does ebay count?

The TR6 rims have the wrong offset for a 'B' but fit just fine with the RV8 body. The wheel arches are flared out by about 3/4" each side.

Hey Gavin,

So you managed to find this wonderful little corner of the internet, it's James Tworow here... welcome!

I know you've told me about your car before, have never seen pictures of it before, is it ready for the road yet?

Fantastic place around here, highly addictive too... And for those reading this, I've been told that Gavin is an excellent mechanic (fairly recent arrival over here from England) with lots of knowledge about British cars and also kit cars if I'm not mistaken, no need to blush now /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh yeah, expect to see you out at one of our Saloon Car Club meetings sometime soon /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Welcome to the Forum! Cool Project /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I want to build one, too! All I lack is the money and talent!

Hello Gavin!

Very impressive work. Based on the photos, you're underselling yourself with that "mechanic" title. From what I can see, the title chould be something closer to "manufacturer". Fabricator, at least.

Welcome,

Mike /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif

Thanks one and all (and Mr Tworrow!) for your words of encouragement, kinda makes me want to get the car finished!

All I can say is WOW! That looks great. Did you make the body from scratch?

Anyway I'm another Calgary resident (well Airdrie) and own a tatty Triumph Spitfire and an even tattier Reliant Scimitar. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF

I'd love to see that car sometime. I'm also at the Saloon car club meetings /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Hi 78Z

I'll see you guys at the meet on June 4th as long as I remember this time, I've missed every one so far!

Going down to watch the special stages of the Rocky Mountain Rally tomorrow (Friday) evening at 6.00pm Blackfoot Motorcycle Park, should be fun. There should be some interesting cars down there like an Escort Cosworth from the UK.

Cheers

Actually... June 1st (always the first Tuesday of the month), and maybe... (cross my fingers) a Cortina might be there! Going to try to get it running/working tonight for awhile.

Good luck! I'll be driving the Spitfire for sure.

edit - sorry I managed to put my post in the middle of the quotes /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Well Sherlock, you'd better deduce how in the email you sent out reminding everyone of the meeting you put June 4th!

Unfortunately I won't be driving anything at the rally, only watching. Used to do quite a bit in England though, it's great fun but breaks cars, uses up excessive amounts of cash and hurts when you run into trees in the forest.

What colour do you guys think would suit the car best?
