Hi Britishcarforum

First post here

I am not an owner of anything British yet...my father was not a fan of anything English car wise...so I tended to follow his lead...I have rebuilt several USA heaps of iron...of course German stuff and some Japanese too...

I have been looking at Morris Minors for several years now and just cant seem to be able to pop on anything yet...

Then there is the classic Mini's and I have always loved the looks of them too...

The Mini's seem to really be getting pricey and Morris's seem to be harder on the resale market around here at least...

So for a newbie just getting into the British car scene any thoughts as to what would be a better one to start with??

I am from the upstate NY part of the world...not a lot of British stuff left due to road salt....

Thanks in advance.

How long is a piece of string?

Only you can answer the question. Mini's will likely have better parts availability especially in the USA, but Minors are well supported too.

One of the things that I have read repeatedly is that it really doesn't cost a lot more to restore an expensive car than an inexpensive car - especially when you consider body work and paint is body work and paint.

So, pick the one you want, or if you remain undecided flip a coin - it won't help you decide but in the air you will know what you want. :D

In the meantime welcome and we are glad you are here - also if you are looking for a driver consider the Canadian Clubs, you will be buying in Canadian Dollars and there are more obscure Brit cars on this side of the border.

Hello MikeC

Welcome to the forum.

As JP said that is a tough question. I have my TR3A mainly because my first car was a TR2 and they are a great looking car. I have just taken on a MG Midget to restore.
The Morris Minor is a nice car and would be good to drive when the weather could make a convertible may not be so great.
Often as you look around one seem to drop into your life.

Check out the various sections on the forum to see if you see something that you like.

Good luck on your hunt.
