Hello all,

I recently purchased a 72 MGB out of a guys field. It is slated for a 302/T5 once I find one for a reasonable price. This is my first MG so excuse any stupid questions I have. It will be an interesting project so hopefully you all will join in on the ride to completion. Cheers

Welcome....go grab the book "How to Give Your MGB V8 Power".....then drop over to the MG Forum to talk about your ideas....several of us have done V8 conversions.
 
I have tried to do all of my research before I started posting so hopefully questions are at a minimum. I feel more comfortable with the install than the restoration. I am a motor/suspension/electrical guy but not much for body. I am quite the nerd so I read everything I can find and luckily know a good body man. Who knows how this little jewel will turn out. I'm sure unsafe and fast with a slight notion of class. Just the way I like it. :-D
 
Then you know the '72 isn't the best model to try a V8 conversion on....cars built after Set 74 are.....so, some body modifications are in store for you: to the firewall & to the trans tunnel....keep us informed as you go - oh, & we like photos!
 
I had the unfortunate pleasure of learning that after I bought the car. I truthfully bought the car to race in the Lemons 24hr series but I liked the little booger so much I want to make a street car out of it. I really like the recessed grill even though it is harder to mod than the RB. I did realize after the purchase that I could have fitted one on the RB but I do like the CB a lot more. I have read a lot of builds and looked at tons of pics so hopefully it won't be too bad. Luckily I have no intentions of having heat or a top for that matter so I am not opposed to chopping up the firewall and tunnel. Luckily I have done quite a bit like this in rock crawling/other auto adventures but who knows what walls I will hit. I have put the SLR to work documenting everything. Once I get some good progress I will start a build thread. Thank you all for the input! You all appear to be the sages of some good info so I'm sure I will put your plethora of knowledge to use soon to come.

HAHAHA! Them there cows and chickens dont do much communicatin in big high falutin words down here in Arkansas. I has to edumacate myself on them big words with the picture tube lookity box. Shows like Jerry Springer and Wife Swap gives me some good learnins. I get all my street smarts from thu intrawebs and the teachings of Jethro Clampett and I quote "Jethro: That's cause I grad-ge-ated the sixth grade, ma'am. Only took three years." Pure jeanius! Any body up for a game of kick the can?

pot here... One of my USAF friends for the last umm... 34 years (hadda use th' digital base ten computators), is a Little Rock native. Now a physics teacher in northern CA, after a stint as a geologist. One of the finest minds I've had the pleasure of bein' around.
