Hello all my name is Scott. I live in the central interior (middle) of British Columbia. I have a pile of cars but only two of them originated in the 'mother land'

The first I've had for 4 years now is my 1959 Ford Zephyr MK2 lowline . I got it from the original owners who bought it when they moved here from italy and had it parked in their garage since 1970. Dont let that fool you though it needs its fair share of work, mostly cosmetic though, with 106K miles on it the old 6 cylinder still runs like a top. I've been slowly gathering parts to rebuild vital components like the brake system and to help stop it from marking its territory wherever it goes, too many irons in the fire so it must continue to wait its turn.

The second is a car that was given to me in trade for rebuilding a neighbors snowmobile engine this summer. it is a triumph TR4a of unknown year. Unfortunatally at some point a toyota 4cylinder engine and trans was swapped in place and due to it being horse traded back and forth over the years the paperwork has been lost so I will be parting out the car which is a shame as it is a pretty solid little car yet, always kept covered so the floors are still there. Only bad spot I noticed is the battery tray.

So thats about it for now I guess, I try to get online daily so ask any questions you might have.

Welcome - heck of a deal, even with the engine swap...it looks too solid to part ot...why not acquire paperwork for it?

I wish I could but ICBC has made it almost impossible to aquire paperwork for a vehicle. I went through the whole process on my Zephyr as the paperwork had been lost and it was a nightmare then, since they have made it much more difficult. I had to part out a 1982 honda cm450 in almost mint condition this spring for the same reason, it sucks.

I have heard it is much easier to get paperwork for a vehicle over in alberta so I may look into getting it done there. my parents and brother are in edmonton and could help out. I'm still really not sure what i'm going to do. I put some ads in the local papers so hopefully someone will grab it and fix it up.

Welcome to our forum Scott! I can relate to the difficulties of obtaining paperwork for older cars - the problem is not limited to Canada. I live in the Banana Republic of New Mexico /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif and trying to get my 1950 Daimler here was a nightmare! I bought the car from a local gent who had purchased it with a group of cars from a Pennsylvania estate auction, but had never titled it or registered it. When I went to get it titled, the hoops they made me jump through were unreal! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif I finally did get it done, but it took a couple of months and a lot of headaches. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif

Procure a TR that is less than a parts car with a title and swap. Or, or, just procure a title to a car that has been scraped.

Jack's got it!

Hi from Calgary, just over the mountains from you...

Nice little collection of cars there, is that Ford Prefect yours as well?

Welcome Scott
I hope you can keep the Triumph.

Craig

Nice cross section of photos of Calgary James. A good friend of mine lives there and i got the impression its a bit like living in the freezer section of your fridge, but your pics prove me wrong.
Regards
Craig
P.S. It would take a few dedicated quiet afternoons to get thru the huge collection of pics!!!!

Welcome to the forum. You ought to think about Jack's advice, it would be a shame to part that car out. good luck with it, whatever you decide.

Finally found my way back here! my computer died and I lost this place.

Thanks for the comments, The Prefect isnt mine But I'm petty sure the same owner still has it but just isnt advertising it any more, Was a pretty solid car just needed inspection as it came from alberta.

Changing VIN numbers is a federal offence so I'll shy away from that route.

Honestly I dont need another project, I just cant believe how little interest there is in this area for this car. I've had it in the papers and on craigslist with only one call looking for an engine. Winters coming and I have no room to store it properly. Hoping someone will show up and take it off my hands before winter sets in.

Hi There Scott;

Welcome to the BCF from the Pocono Mtns of PA: The new Gaming Capitol in the NE!

Hey; This is probably a silly statement but why not try ebay? Your odds of finding someone to buy it are pretty good!

Best Wishes and Enjoy;

Russ

In Canada it is not a federal offense to change VIN's if you retain part of the car from which the VIN came from.
By this I mean, either the frame or major body components.
This is done all the time in restorations.
So, "Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge", I would look for another car with a title as your "Restoration' project.
Just my opinion though,
Dave

P.S. Welcome to the best forum on the NET
